Simbang Gabi Part 2 – Maturity is one key to an answered Prayer!

Feelings, Mind, Soul 18 December 2009 | 0 Comments

In my blog of Simbang Gabi 1, I left a thought on how will we still receive an answered prayer from God even if we do not do our ‘panata’ (vow) to Him.  Say, not completing the 10 days attendance of the early Christmas Mass (Simbang Gabi).

Here’s one response to that thought…

When we pray or wish God for a certain thing we are more concern of the item we ask for than our readiness to receive it.  More often than not we aren’t ready to accept what we have prayed for so God prepares our attitude first before we receive the things we ask of Him.

King Solomon said, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time” (Eccl. 3: 11).  Just for us to be assured, God immediately answers either yes or no to our prayers, on the other hand the delivery of the answer is delayed to the time He knew we are ready for it so that the timing will be very beautiful.

The problem is WAITING because it is one of the most difficult things to learn.  The mark of a mature & grown up person is his waiting ability.  Babies demands & they want it immediately.  An immature person don’t understand the “Not-yet.”  Maturity is also spelled P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E!

God delays His answer until we are ready for it.  He changes our attitudes & temperaments.  He makes our character to become Spirit-filled first before He gives the answer.  He’s more interested in making us mature than making our lives easy.

If we have difficulty with our relationships, instead of praying to change the character of our loved ones why not pray for God to change our attitude towards them?

When we have problems why not instead of praying to change the situation, pray that God changes us?

When you have problem in your job, instead of praying for a new job, pray that He changes your attitude towards your present job or attitude towards your manager.

Instead of asking for more money, ask Him to help you to have the right attitude about money!

Have a wonderful time of praying for God’s time to mature our attitudes towards circumstances & situations of life so that He will answer our prayers!
